Friday the weather was actually better than expected and we hadn't counted on walking. But to end the year in Ehnen is not so satisfying: it's a nice village, but doesn't feel like an end point. We have been told that Remich is more classy and so we decide on our last holiday to walk the final kilometers to Remich.

We park the car at the parking area along the Moselle and we can immediately start walking. It is very simple: 3 times 3-3.5 kms along 2 villages and we are there. And as usual we climb pretty steep out of Ehnen after which we quietly walk through the vineyards. At Greiveldange things are a bit different though. Not just descending to the village and leave it on the other side, but now we really go into the village that is at some distance of the Moselle river and then pass along the back up a hill back to the Moselle. On our passage through the village we stop at the Freedom tree for a sandwich and a sip of ice tea.

A large loop brings us to Stadtbredimus with corn on one side of the road and grapes on the other sie. Stadtbredimus itself is about 100m to enter and exit and then you're immediately in the forest. A serious climb in the forest is followed by a long descent along a stream and we are in Remich at (late) lunch time.

The Pavillon Remy-Desom is a bit too classy for us and so we walk to the downtown to have a look at the Esplanade. It is indeed nice and cosy here and so we end up in restaurant Los Toros for a DIY grilled sirloin stake with a bottle of local rosé to finish the GR5 year. After lunch we walk around in the sun and sit next to the Moselle just to take the 17:15 bus back to Ehnen from where we take the car back to the camping site.

To be continued next year...
