After a good sleep we find ourselves in the dining room again but now for breakfast with baguette, croissants, cheese and lots of coffee. The sky is spotless blue and the sun is out. It will be a great day for a walk today. We don't have to walk very far today so we gather our stuff at ease, have a chat with the lady that runs the hut and by 10 we're on our way again. The only thing we have to do today is descent, that's it.
Is it exciting today? Well, no, it isn't. In the very first part somebody heads up and we recognize him as one of the guests that was in the same hut last night. Apparently he left earlier with a group but at some point lost his sunglasses and now he's tracing back his steps to find it. Unfortunately we haven't seen it either (not that we paid too much attention) so it seems he really lost. Further down the mountain a guy is making photos and we greet when we pass, but without reply. That happens, but when he later passes again with his tripod in his hands he again doesn't greet or even look at us. So when we pass him again when he's taking another picture we don't bother anymore. Strange fellow.
And apart from that we just descend. First through the pastures, then along the tree line and finally into the woods. After a while in the woods we see some cars parked on either side of the gravel road and hey, the gravel road becomes a tarmac road here. After a short walk on the tarmac we arrive at the Bostan parking where there are a lot of people. We continue and pass the hamlet Les Allamands before reaching a second parking. From here the GR5 doesn't follow the tarmac road any longer but dives into the woods on a narrow track along a stream. It's a whole lot of scrambling for just being parallel and close to the road, but ok.
After the 3rd parking the path eases and we gently walk down over a narrow path that is a bit park-like. Finally we reach civilization and the path turns into a gravel road that turns into a tarmac road. We follow the GR5 along the east side of Samoëns until the main road. We have to get used to the cars again. At the main road we leave the GR5 and head right towards the town centre as our car is parked somewhere there. I'm sure we're not taking the shortest route but we do see the town centre and we do end up where the car is. It's in the baking sun, quite a difference with the downpour when we left it here. Just a reasonable drive back to Châtel and we're back at base camp.
