It was a long weekend driving including a short visit to our French colleague coffee roasters in Samoëns after which it was quite a distance on secundary roads to get to the camping in Nancroix. So the original plane to walk on Monday is thrown out of the window when the alarm goes off at 6am on Monday morning. We just don't feel like walking....and we decide to stretch the legs by walking from the camping site to Rosuel, but not start the walk until tomorrow.
And that's what we do. We're not in a hurry and so we leave the camping site around 11am. At the back of the camping there is a pedestrian exit that puts you straight onto the GR5. And straight onto the first climb until just after the Palais de la Mine. There we briefly loose track of the track (so that took us just 15 minutes this year) because the signposting is rather unconventional rather than the white/red GR-signs. But after that we're fine when we slowly descend to Les Lanches. From here on it's gently climbing through the wide valley to Rosuel. The shuttle bus to bring us back to the camping doesn't stop at the parking in front of the refuge (what would have been logical, but that's probably why it doesn't stop there) but about 300m down the road in the direction of Peisey. No problem, we have half an hour to kill before the bus comes. And we're not the only ones that assumed the bus would stop at the refuge because a bit later a young lady comes running down the road with full gear to catch the bus just on time. Because the bus is really on time and so within minutes we're back on the camping site. We had just a short stroll....nothing more.
